In 1946 Eastern Tire & Auto Service was opened in Rockland, Maine. It was originally owned and operated by Jim Miller and Roland Ware. After some time the business was acquired by Maritime Energy, another Rockland based company. While owned by Maritime, our grandfather, Maynard Linscott, managed the tire company.
In 1978, our grandfather, father, and uncle acquired Eastern Tire & Auto Service from Maritime Energy. It was through our grandfather and his relationship to the enterprise that we had come to grow up in the business. Throughout high school we worked and learned about quality product, value, and most importantly service. It was always stressed to us that people can buy tires and have their vehicle repaired anywhere, but quality service and value are what bring customers back time after time.
Our grandfather and uncle retired in the mid 1980's.
Since 1989, my father and I, Alvin Chase Jr., have continued to build upon a strong foundation of a quality service, fair pricing and product lines in tires and repair parts that give our customers the best combination of cost and long life. In 2001 my brother Aaron joined us full time. He too had grown up in and around the "shop". Like me, he spent after school hours, weekends and vacations working here and learning the basics he would have to know to continue what had quickly become a tradition; serving the automotive needs of generation after generation of our friends and neighbors.
That service to generations of customers is one thing that we are most proud of. Recently a sixteen year old boy came in with his grandfather, and I suddenly realized that our company has been servicing that family's automotive needs for four generations. His great grandparents, grandparents, mother, and father are all still valued customers. His sisters and he are now driving, making them the fourth generation which we have had the privilege to know. That in itself is "family."
Our father has recently retired, leaving the business in our hands. He has worked diligently to instill in us the components of success. "We can do it", "We will try", We will do our best" are frequently overhead at the Eastern Tire & Auto shop. You will never hear us say "No". These were things taught to us, growing up both at home and in the family business. They are planted quite deep, and have unknowingly become phrases that we find ourselves using and believing in every day.
Our father leaves us with a great gift, and a wonderful opportunity to continue a tradition of service to our community. Stop by Eastern Tire & Auto Service today. You will always find me and/or Aaron here ready to exceed your service needs.
