Georges River Land Trust

The Georges River Land Trust's mission is to conserve and steward the natural resources and traditional character of the Georges River watershed region for the public benefit.

Mid-coast Maine's 225-square-mile Georges River watershed is a unique and historic area of mountains, sea coast, lakes, tidal streams and inlets through which the beautiful St. George River flows. The watershed extends from Montville in Waldo County to Port Clyde in Knox County where the 51-mile-long river flows into Muscongus Bay.

Area Interfaith Outreach
Area Interfaith Outreach is a volunteer organization of Midcoast area communities of faith providing food, emergency financial assistance and referrals to social service agencies for people needing assistance in the community. AIO has recently opened in its new temporary home in the former Salvation Army Building at 16 Brewster Street in Rockland.

Humane Society of Knox County
 

The Humane Society of Knox County is devoted to caring for  unwanted and homeless animals while participating  in activities advocating responsible pet ownership and the prevention of  abuse and cruelty.  The Humane Society also sponsors events  and activities that promote the health and welfare of animals,  and demonstrate the  benefits of the human-animal bond.  The Humane Society also offers programs that encourage community participation, and support preventative health care for companion animals.

Literacy Volunteers


Literacy Volunteers provides assistance with reading, writing and related literacy skills from basic literacy up to and including preparation for college. It is an easy transition from basic learner to Adult Basic Education level and onto skills upgrade and GED or High School Diploma.

Trekkers
Trekkers

Trekkers is a non-profit, outdoor-based mentoring program that connects caring adults with young people through expeditionary learning, community service and adventure-based education.

With community adult volunteers working throughout the year, Trekkers provides a myriad of educational, experiential, and cross-cultural opportunities for young people, with an emphasis on relationship building and an appreciation of the earth as "educator".

     


Youthlinks


Youthlinks is a program of Broadreach Family & Community Services located in Rockland Maine that provides after-school programs that include community service, leadership and enrichment opportunities to all youth ages 11-17 from anywhere in mid-coast Maine.
