Lively Ladies Art Show Boosts Shelter
“Animal Kingdom, ” an art exhibition of the Lively Ladies to benefit animals at the Rockland-based Humane Society of Knox County opens Wed. Oct 5 in Rockland. The place is The Garage Gallery, Eastern Tire Auto Service, Inc. on Route 1. Time is 5 to 7 p.m. and the public is invited.
Paintings are recent works by nine artists and include a focus on cats, dogs, wild animals and fowl. Portraits of several shelter animals star on the walls. Selected landscapes, some with birds in them, will be shown, too, for wider appeal. The gallery exhibit is slated to run through the winter and may be viewed weekdays through business hours, 8 to 5.
Participating in the show are Stell Shevis and Bird Burns from Camden, Edith LaRoche from Searsmont; Pat Farmer from Cushing; Deborah Winship, Lois Anne and Nancy Fitzgerald of Rockland; and from Lincolnville, Elizabeth O’Haverty and Lauralee Clayton.
Members of the group, who meet weekly in Camden, will offer for sale their animal and cat postcards from theircurrent Postcard Project, another Shelter benefit . For more info. call 789-5430.
