A transplant from New Jersey via North Carolina, Jean Ulshoefer moved to Camden with her husband 20 years ago. "My past includes a degree in Art Education at what is now Kean University in New Jersey; teaching; and raising four daughters, " she says. She taught art eight years in New Jersey to children in Kindergarten through 8th Grade-- 1,000 children a week. While there she illustrated a curriculum guide.
As Jean reports, "I have shown my work in North Carolina and, now, in the BayView Gallery." While working in the gallery, she has sold other artists' work to people all over the United States. As well, her own paintings are owned by collectors across the country.
Well known for her local Belted Galloway paintings, Jean was one of the past prize winners of the Aldermere Farm art contest in Rockport. She explores her creativity through various media, from pen sketches, to oils, watercolors, pastels and constructions. She has maintained personalized sketch journals from her trips abroad to many countries in Europe, such as France and Switzerland. Two cards from her paintings have been published in recent years by Bay View Press.
